Hi, I'm reading Little Women for the second time in my life. Darned good book, I must say! Which of the four sisters do you think you are most like? I'd say I'm a mix between Beth and Jo. Well, I'm out. XXX
I love Beth, but I'd have to say Jo too. But Beth will always remain my favorite. We both love dolls, animals, music, and our family. But Jo is really exciting and talkative, plus she ends up with a really great guy while still staying friends with Laurie. I always thought Meg was kind of boring and amy somewhat self-centered.
I've read little women before, but it was like 10 years ago. And, to be honest, I'd need more of a description of the girls to determine who I am most like. Hmmm...looks like I may want to read it again...what a classic!!!
I've always loved that book, and i'll be reading it again this semester for my images of women in literature class. I'd say I'm a mixture of Beth and Joe, too. Probably more of Beth, actually. Joe and I both love writing, though.
Yeah, I like music like Beth, but then again, I'm like Jo 'cause we're both loud and routy, and we love to write. Katy, if you wanna read it, go here for easy access: http://xroads.virginia.edu/~HYPER/ALCOTT/LWHP.html
amy got the guy in the end, so I want to be her.
Amy sounds a bit like me, mindful of her manners, a bit of a spoilt little brat at times, pickled lines in her school desk and all the rest of it, so I think I'd be Amy, but I'm not engaged or married yet.
Jo. She had all those wonderful moments that I always identified with, where she'd say something thoughtless and cruel, or unwise, or vengeful, and it would come back to bite her ten-fold. Like Beth getting Scarlet Fever, and Amy falling through the ice, and her aunt sending Amy to Europe, and even her manuscript being burned. Her little life lessons seemed more real to me than the others, and she'd beat herself up over it mercilessly, and swear to be a better person, and then go and do the exact same thing again. And then there was her one grand selfless gesture, selling her hair, which was made completely pointless a few minutes later when Aunt March coughed up the money anyway. Meg was the virtuous, domestic sort, who had all the real troubles to overcome gracefully, and I never got her at all. Amy was just annoying, one of those people who has everything fall into her lap, is loved by everyone for her grace and poise, and isn't even that nice a person. I loved Beth, of course, everyone loves Beth, but I don't think anyone is really like Beth. She's like Helen Burns. A character created too good, and killed off young, to drive home the message of the day to everyone else.
Did this book at school - yuck !! Would have to choose either the one that got away early - well died then... OR the one who ended up rich with a nice house - cos cats like that sort of thing !!
I would say some of Jo and Amy. Love Jo's sense of adventure and her love of reading and writing, her generosity of heart and all the human failings that make her wonderful. Somewhat like Amy, a little on the self-centered side at times, hate to admit it but there it is, smile. Beth was too good for this world and Meg much too prim and proper for me to be anything like her.
I am probably meg.
Wow, someone who identifies with Meg. That's cool.
I am hands down Joe. While I do like music as Beth did, I am the farthest thing from her personality there is. I have Jo's temper, and believe me, mine has come back to bite me in the ass. I have her outgoing spirit, and am something of a tomboy. When I do have kids, I want sons, as she did. Beth was sweet, but always seemed so weak to me that it was hard to really sympathize with her at times. This is a great book.
Lol! I am bookish.
